While it is easier to write CORBA applications in Java than in any other language, there are still a few conceptual stumbling stones that Java/CORBA programmers need to be aware of. The combination of Java and CORBA, the OMG's middleware standard, has been receiving a lot of interest in both the Java and CORBA communities because of their apparent similarities in syntax and concepts. An OMG-defined language mapping and a number of existing commercial and public domain CORBA platforms open up the CORBA world for Java applications and components.
